Who Do You Trust By Sitting In A Chair To Be Done Unto

We all sit in a chair trusting someone else to do unto us some service like: getting our hair done, a dental visit, experience a teleseminar or webcast, etc. However, what we don’t expect is that if we have been vulnerable enough to sit and be “done unto” that the doer will turn with us with a vengeance if the doing doesn’t go right.

Examples:
1. Sit in a dentist chair and when the crown does not fit it is your problem for being done unto?
2. Sit in the hairdresser’s chair and when the color treatment goes bad it is your problem for being in the chair?
3. Sit through endless hours of counseling with another via the telephone only to have the person’s latest crisis somehow your fault for having sat, listened, and tried to encourage?

The service question to answer: When your product or service requires that I sit in the chair to be done unto, are you as the doer ready to stay with me to fix whatever might go wrong? Or, do you treat me as if I somehow presented you with a challenge not known formerly to God or man and you cannot possibly be held accountable for its failure?

Accountability as a customer and as a vendor is the service riddle not hard to solve. Treat each other with respect to the relationship first, money second. If that is too hard for you, maybe you are providing a service for which you have not been designed or equipped. Excellent customer service relationships continue to grow better or worse. Your choice is to be the provider who does only honor unto the respected customer whether the customer or patient is you best friend or not.
