Blind justice, yes; but blind loyalty?

What have we taught our children when I hear them say they were born a Democrat or Republican? I have noted that particularly in the political arena we confuse loyalty to a party or a person rather than standing for justice, truth, and the American way. The word blind comes to mind. Have we have taught them that being informed, having values, standards, and calling wrong wrong does not play in the world of choosing the leaders to guide our country.
Oh well, you say, politics does not affect my daily work; you have bigger things to think about. Really? Taxes are not important to you? They were to our founding fathers. Supporting our military is not important to you; whatever congress decides to do, they will do? Nothing you can do about it? So, you want to bow allegiance to a dictator and lose your job and current lifestyle forever? Our founding fathers showed us a better way; it is called The United States of America. Still too busy to think about it? Hummm Maybe the company you work for should make the move overseas (a nice trip for your family?) or allow undocumented workers free reign; after all, it does not affect you that someone may offer tomorrow to do your job for less and is not a legal immigrant. No chance of that, you say. Really?
Each of us has the mental capacity to think at some level beyond blind loyalty to laissez-faire attitudes that will eventually erode, are already eroding, our ability to live safe and secure from all alarm. Today more than ever we have the ability to communicate with our leaders on a regular basis. Use the internet for something worthy! Think. Ask questions. Watch what leaders do not what they spin that they do. Stay leery of popularity polls; you know right and wrong. Vote! (Take your kids with you so they will not have to figure out how this country works; they will know.) There is so much information about where government dollars are spent, READ at least some of it. Example: Can we say it is right to fund peanut storage and spinach rather than our brave, called-to-serve  military men? Do you even know what pork in a bill is all about and that bribery for votes is akin to it? Remember, you are teaching our young about loyalty.
Loyalty to foundational truths is pure; loyalty to a party, personality, or pet peeve is quite another; at best it is impure. Do your kids know that? Do your grandkids? What are you doing to be sure the parentless kids in your community know the truth?
You are hearing, right now, the call Be a Mentor.Answer yes to keep America strong, safe, and secure so that each of us can pursue life, liberty, and happiness. No excuses; you are the adults; you are the they of the people!
