What is your price for peace of mind every day at work?

A seminar participant came up to me at the mid-morning break and declared that he agreed with me that everyone should have a passion about work, but he had 4 kids under the age of 12 and he would do what he loved to do (sell real estate) when he “retired” from this governmental job with the great benefits. He said with pride that he dabbled in real estate on his off hours; therefore, he was not totally without the joy of doing what he loved to do. He has a friend who pays him $1000 for every client he refers that buys or sells a house. Since he is “good at real estate” he sends his friend about 3 to 4 leads a month! (Where was this guy when I was in real estate sales?) I refocused him to the price (more…)

Kids choose careers after they leave school – Duh!

We know that the tomorrow’s workforce is in school today… specifically, high school. We worry about gangs, dropouts, teen pregnancies, violence, etc. but what can we do to prevent such things rather than “control” them if they break out?
